Why is the need form the project?The project aims to improve the critical understanding and the sense of responsibility of young people about the striking dimension of food waste to promote more sustainable models of consumption and to make them responsible future agent of change. This theme, an urgent challenge of our time, allows to debate and involve students in concrete topics and easily understandable to them.

(If you project is less than 1 year old feel free to ignore this question)120 students, 45 teachers with 25 LAs representatives of 7 European Countries (representing 55 LAs and 40 secondary schools involved) met in Milan EXPO in the 21-22 October 2015 for the 1st European Forum against food waste to elaborate in a participatory way and officially launch the “DON’T WASTE OUR FUTURE Charter 2015 – A joint European Manifesto of Young People and Local Authorities to promote food waste reduction and the global right to food”. The Forum represented the peak of a Development Education process, which foresaw about 160 meetings such as didactic modules, workshops and participatory laboratories addressed to more than 1500 Young and 55 Local Authorities from Europe, as protagonist on the fight against the food waste.
