13. Project background: Why is the project taking place? Why is the need form the project?To continue the work of previous DEEEP projects (2003-2015), specifically the coordination and support for the European DEAR sector, and to construct global alliances to enable long-lasting and enabling environment for active support of EU citizens and politicians to Global Development. This has lead to effective strategies for citizens’ empowerment for change with a positive impact on global efforts towards and beyond 2015.

(If you project is less than 1 year old feel free to ignore this question)Due to committed stakeholders, DEEEP4 implemented all 95 contracted activities and produced number of outputs, of which most significant were: 3 global conferences, each with 180-390 global participants, accompanied by a global steering group (the “movement circle”) and a global online community; an “Explorers’ Journey for systemic change” with 51 participants from all over the world, consisting of three 3-days workshops and individual Action Learning processes; 12 European conferences, including, i.a. two European Citizens Summits and three research conferences; 21 publications, including an academic publication with 12 edited chapters; continuous advocacy on DEAR and GCE, including succesful lobbying to include GCE in the SGD targets
