13. Project background: Why is the project taking place? Why is the need form the project?“A major challenge the international community must face today is to ensure that globalisation is a positive force for all of mankind” (European Consensus on Development, 2005. To ensure that the social dimension of globalisation and decent work as the basis for development needs to be strengthened. The project responds to the need of a better coherence for development, especially to fair trade, implementation of human and labour rights, the social dimension of globalisation and decent work.

(If you project is less than 1 year old feel free to ignore this question)Inter alia: Over 2000 brochures and over 10.000 European visitors of the mobile exhibition Decent Work - Decent Life! The Labour Market and how international cooperation and solidarity can make it a better place?; Over 1500 participants to more than 50 public events and seminars with a mix attendance between TU and NGO representatives; 120 journalists attending 24 press conferences; over 300 features and articles published in mainstream media; 1 large European Roundtable „DECENT WORK for ALL! “was held in Brussels to raise the awareness of political decision makers at EU level; 12 one year training courses conducted; 12 multipliers and mentors seminars conducted with 180 participants; 9 study visits were organized.
